The Pre-Game Analysis
The Pre-Game Analysis
Drake and Meek Mill were just fine "ABOUT A WEEK AGOOOO *Shmoneys*. The two had collaborated on tracks for both of Meek's album with the most recent one being "R.I.C.O" of #DWMTM. Drake had been a big advocate of Meek's; he supported him while he was in prison and he declared his famous "Intro" as one of the best rap moments of this generation. Meek also was a big fan of Drake's; he was seen in several videos rapping Drake lyrics. The two seemed cool but boy how quickly do things change.....
Last week. Meek kicked things off when he took to Twitter and began ranting. What started as a diss to his girlfriend Nicki Minaj's Safaree, led to surprising shots at the 6 God himself.
He followed this tweet with several more. He was cosigned by OG Maco in the twitter rant and brought up allegations of Drake have a ghostwriter by the name of Quentin Miller. A Q.M reference track "10 Bands" of was released by Funk Master Flex and many questions arose. However after a few days of silence, Q.M released a statement via Tumblr addressing the allegations.
Then we all waited....
The Scoring Drives (Play-By-Play)
After receiving the kick-off diss from Meek, Drake scores a touchdown with his first response. The OVO rapper released "Charged Up" Saturday via OVO Radio on Beats1 (Apple Music). The track is not your typical diss song but gets the job done. On the calm beat, Drake creates a new catch phrase in which everyone was tweeting (#ChargedUp) and delivers some nice quotables ("No woman ever had me starstruck/or was able to tell me to get my bars"). Drake gets on the board, Meek's ball.
INTERCEPTION! Safaree takes the ball. Minaj's ex-boyfriend snags the opportunity to get a few things off his chest. In retaliation to disses from both Minaj and Meek, he drops a diss record of his own titled "Lifeline". On the track Safaree makes the claims that he wrote a lot of Minaj's punchlines and takes several digs Meek by saying he has have a bigger penis, that his album went to the "past" when Future's dropped, and that he should eat a pear. While his track had mixed reviews, many applauded the effort of his defensive and his timely fashion.
BACK TO BACK TOUCHDOWN! After waiting four days for a response from Meek, the 6 God strikes again with 'Back to Back". This track is much more aggressive and filled with way more quotables than the initial TD in #ChargedUp. Drake executed this score so strategically. He used the cover art from the Toronto Blue Jays beating the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series and dropped the track on the day the two teams played one another. Ironically the Blue Jays won by 6. The track feels like the kind of score that silences the fans for good....
Now the ball is Meek's hands again, will he score? (Will update when (if) track drops)
Meek Mill disappoints BIG TIME. After waiting several possessions to attack, he comes up tremendously short.
21 RULE!!! Game is OVER! Time to pass the controller Meek. Drake began his set at OVO Fest with #ChargedUp and #BackToBack with every Meek meme possible playing on a mega-screen in the background. Meek might respond but at this point, it does not even matter.
And to make matters worse, Drake, Kanye and Will Smith are seen backstage laughing at a Meek meme.......
