In this article, we take a look at how this fictional situation can relate to YOUR real life...
The Attitude Adjustment
Now Jason, the red ranger, was the leader of the Power Rangers before this. After hearing the news, he could have been pissed. Most of us would have been. Like how in the hell you just strip me of my leadership role without even consulting me about it? Jason did none of this. When he heard the news, he responded by saying "this is great". He did not have to do this because Jason was a great leader and the only ranger to beat Tommy in a battle.
So how can we take this and use it our lives. Well unfortunately sometimes we also get demoted from a job we are doing well. A lot of the time without us even knowing it is coming. It might be upsetting but the key is to remain positive in the situation. 1 Peter 5:6 says "So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor". Jason could have boasted and bragged about his accomplishments as leader of the Rangers but he remained humble and eventually....(keep reading).
So as we see from this part of Jason's story, he was demoted from the leader of the Power Rangers only to eventually leave the Power Rangers all together. This is not a coincidence. Matter of fact, the producers knew Austin St. John (Jason) was moving on from the show so they planned accordingly. So how can we relate this to our lives? I think about Jeremiah 29:11 which reads "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
The producers knew what St. John planned to do just like God knows what he has planned for YOU! God will change your situation not to demote you but to get you ready for the next chapter he has planned for you. The producers set Tommy up as the leader partially because they knew of Jason's future departure. God knows what he has planned for your life so if you are doing the best you can and demotion happens, keep working hard because God has promotion or different plans in store for your future.
I know that might have been a lot to take in but you can clearly see Tommy made some serious sacrifices for the Rangers. So how does this relate to our lives? Well, I know we may be doing a great job at what we are doing, but sometimes another person just deserves to be in our position even more. Jason was doing a great job as the leader of the Power Rangers but Tommy honestly made the biggest sacrifices for the team and rightfully earned the role. If ever in a situation like this, I challenge you to look at the situation from all angles. You are not always the problem. Sometimes it is just somebody else's turn to lead.
The BUSINESS Decision
So how does this relate to you? Sometimes, business is sometimes simply....BUSINESS. In your workplace, people can love you a lot but the corporation will still do what it needs to do to make the most money. Every decision is not personal. I am sure the people over Power Rangers would have loved to keep Jason but in the end he left and they rolled with Tommy (which turned out to be more beneficial for them). There are a lot of Red Rangers but only one person you remember as the Green and White Ranger. My take on this is simple. Even when your company decides to go in another direction, I encourage you to continue working hard until the end of your time there. You want to always be known as a hard worker. Even if you leave, you never know when......
So I alluded to this outcome in the previous sections. Jason who was previous demoted and left the series, was brought back to the series and promoted. Then the person who brought him back was the person was essentially replaced him. How does this relate to your life? Work hard, be humble and wait for your time to shine again. If you are a great at what you do, people will notice (even those in your old position). The phone will definitely ring when in need. You are a leader and never let a demotion in your story, be end the story. It should only be a chapter. I encourage you to continue to fight and when you get the call to lead yet again, be ready and be GREAT.
