Ok, so now time to get on YOU ALL!. What is wrong with you guys and gals?!? It is that time of the year where LSU is gearing up to play Alabama and usually this is an exciting week. During this week, us LSU fans are usually on the BEST of our BULLSH*T! We bring out the best of our trash talking skills and go at the #RollTide fans' necks! This year has been different...
What has happened to us LSU fans?
What has happened to our spirit?
Has losing to Alabama the past six games finally done its toll on us?
Have we lost all hope when it comes to this game???
The answer is YES. Despite LSU always having a chance to beat Alabama (we usually play them better than anybody not named Clemson), it is clear LSU fans don't believe we have any type of chance this year. This is evident despite us being on a three-game winning streak with our last wins coming against SEC competition. Do fans not believe Coach O could pull this off? Is our team too young to pull it off? Is the loss to Troy still in our heads?
The answer is yes for those questions too but in reality, this might be our best chance to beat Alabama. Bama is always great but if we are being honest, this is not one of their strongest teams. They are loaded but lost a lot of talent to the NFL last season so they are still young. Bama has benefited greatly from college football teams not being as good this year. We all thought their Florida State win was a big deal until we saw what FSU was this year which is mediocre for the standard they have set within their program.
LSU will be the best defense the Crimson Tide has seen since playing FSU in their season opener. The Tigers are young on defense but Dave Aranda has worked with them and their play has improved from week to week. What is most of impressive about the group is the secondary. They are 13th in college football in passing yards allowed and have only giving up five passing touchdowns this season. The rush defense has not been nearly as good and that is something to be concerned about when you are gearing up to face one of the top rushing attacks in the league.
So despite us all, including me, not believing we have a chance in this game, how can we win? Well hear are my three suggestions
- Make Jalen Hurts hurt you by PASSING the ball. We all know Jalen would prefer to scramble and we know Alabama would prefer to pound the rock. STACK THE BOX! If LSU can somewhat limit Bama's rushing attack from both Damien Harris and Jalen Hurts, it puts you in the best position. Bypassing the blowout of of Vanderbilt, Hurts had his worse passing game against the only elite defense he faced in FSU. LSU has some good young corners and safeties in DBU. Stacking the box would put Greedy Williams, Donte Jackson and the others on an island with a bunch of one-on-one matchups. However, I believe DBU has the capability to win more of those matches than lose.
- Matt Canada has to show us why he was hired. It is time to pull out all of the tricks with this offense. We know Bama is used to the Les Miles way of playing them which is trying to run the ball up the middle constantly and failing. Canada has to keep Bama on his toes with his play selection and find a way to get Danny Etling time to throw the ball. He also has to find way to get the ball to our playmakers in space.
ITS BAMA HATE WEEK EVERYBODY!!!
BRING BACK THE ENERGY!!!
You know you believe LSU has a chance. You are masking that belief because you do not want to be disappointed if we lose again. However, if you are lying to yourself about think we do not have a chance, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED REGARDLESS! So my advice, get LOUD, get PROUD, and bring back that ENERY that we are accustomed to during BAMA HATE WEEK!!!
