Bill Self's squad is always in the mix to make noise in the NCAA tournament. They have not made the Final Four since 2012 but I believe this is the year they return. Self's roster have a bit of everything you need to be successful. I believe their experience will be their biggest advantage ultimately leading them to the big game.
Many could not tell you one person's name on this team but collectively they get the job done. They remind me of the current Boston Celtics because every one on the team contributes to their victories with the addition of good guard play. This Aggies team is one of the surprisingly stories of the year and I believe they will surprise many this postseason. I have watched them play several times and I am really impressed with how Bill Kennedy turned this squad around after returning from his battle with Parkinson's disease. Though losing to Kentucky in the SEC Championship, the beat down they gave to Ben Simmons and LSU should put a little fear in opponents in the tourney.
Roy Williams and the Tarheel have let me down over the past several years. The team has not reached the Final Four since they won it all in 2009. This is the year they make it back. Brice Johnson has been impressive all season and I believe he will continue this in the tournament. The potential matchup with Kentucky in the Sweet 16 will be key to getting to the Final Four. If they win that game, it should be fairly easy.
Though the have not won a National title in a over a decade, the Spartans are frequent visitors to the Final Four. They have arguably the best coach in college basketball in Tom Izzo and this year they arguably have the best player in college basketball in Denzel Valentine. Michigan State has a easy road until they potentially meet up with Virginia in the Elite 8. If they survive that, then Izzo and his squad will be back in the Final Four.
Who Will When It All?
Williams VS Self
Johnson Vs Ellis
Two historically great basketball programs battling it out to cut down the nets.
